Welcome to the home page of the Williamsport Detachment of the Marine Corps League. We are a not for profit 501 (c) (4) community organization dedicated to helping Marines and veterans in our community grow and prosper. Our members are volunteers who continue to serve our community and our active duty, reservists, guardsmen, and veteran men, women, and their families. We do this through fundraising efforts like hot dog sales, and small games of chance. We in turn donate a portion of our fundraising to organizations back to our community organizations that help and support local veterans and their families; such as: The Vet Center, Lycoming County Home Town Heroes, Lycoming County Veterans Transition Center, Toys for Tots to name a few. We also serve through our community service I.e. Eagle Scout program, Toys for Tots, and our color guards at funerals, and parades.
We support the Toys for Tots efforts working with the Marine Corps Reserve and Toys for Tots Foundation to raise millions of dollars for the youth of America. Toys for Tots collects and distributes millions of toys all across the United States. Our league collects toys, purchases toys, raises money to buy toys, and distributes toys to local toy distribution centers to ensure disadvantaged children do not go without receiving a toy for Christmas.
If you would like to make a donation to, volunteer for, or become a drop site for Toys for Tots for Williamsport and surrounding areas and bring the joy of Christmas to less fortunate children please click the Toys for Tots emblem above or below for more information. Color GuardsWe conduct many color guards and honor guards throughout the community.
Colors, or flags, are often carried by both, color guards and honor guards. The primary purpose of the Color Guard is to present the National Colors at a presentation or ceremony. The Honor Guard may present the Colors, but their main purpose is to present a contingent to bear honors at ceremonies or funerals. |
Eagle Scout ProgramWe honor and recognize and help support youth programs which promote good citizenship and build moral character like the Eagle Scouts program. We coordinate with the local council to provide certificates for newly appointed Eagle Scouts.
